Westhampton Beach, NY – Westhampton Beach and Quogue Fire Fighters recently underwent continuing training to prepare to assist in the decontamination of large groups of people and aiding the Hazardous Materials teams that will go into the “hot zone” in the aftermath of a chemical, biological or nuclear incident.

This ongoing training was given by the Suffolk County Fire Academy and the Suffolk County Fire Marshals office and is part of the efforts by the Department of Homeland Security to prepare for natural and terrorist disasters.

Training involved placement and setup of fire apparatus for gross decontamination of large groups, proper donning and removal of level B biohazard suits and working with pre- staged trailers equipped to facilitate large scale decontamination.
